Welcome to NAMFORUM, a community dedicated to Neural Amp Modeling technology and other capture technologies.

NAM, TONEX, Kemper, Neural Capture, Line 6 Proxy and the growing number of open and commercial capture systems have fundamentally changed what we can do with amplifiers, pedals, cabinets, preamps, signal chains and other audio equipment. What began as a way to reproduce guitar amplifier tones is rapidly becoming a much broader technology.

NAMFORUM exists to explore all of it.

This is an independent community. It isn't the official forum of Neural Amp Modeler—or of any manufacturer or platform—and that's intentional. We want a place where people using different technologies can compare results, share techniques, solve problems, discuss new developments and learn from one another without every conversation being confined to a particular manufacturer's ecosystem.

Whether you're creating your first capture or training models yourself, whether you're using free open-source software or commercial hardware, you're welcome here.

Share what you know

A great capture is more than a file. There is an entire process behind it: interfaces, reamping, calibration, gain staging, signal routing, equipment setup, training, testing and ultimately figuring out whether the resulting model actually represents what we intended to capture.

NAMFORUM is a place to talk about that process.

Post your experiments. Share your models. Ask questions. Show your signal chains. Report things that worked—and things that didn't. Compare platforms. Challenge assumptions. If you've discovered something useful, there's probably somebody here who will benefit from knowing it.

And this isn't limited to guitar amplifiers. Capture technology can be applied to bass rigs, pedals, preamps, studio equipment, complete signal chains and other instruments and sources. We're interested in where this technology goes next.

The NAMFORUM Wiki

Discussion is only half of what we're building.

The NAMFORUM Wiki is intended to become a permanent community knowledge base for capture technology.

The forum is where we discuss, experiment, question and discover. The Wiki is where we document what we've learned.

As useful information emerges from forum discussions, it can become organized reference material in the Wiki: guides, terminology, platform information, capture procedures, troubleshooting information, technical explanations and documented discoveries.

The goal isn't to replace forum discussion with documentation. It's to connect the two. A good discussion shouldn't disappear into years of forum history, and a Wiki article should be able to lead readers back to the conversations and evidence behind it.

Help us build it

NAMFORUM is starting from zero. That's an opportunity.

There aren't years of inherited rules, obsolete categories or entrenched ways of doing things. The structure can grow according to what the community actually needs.
